Detailed information about the product Warehouse Management Software (WMS) Empirica®

Empirica offers you a WMS solution on three levels. Each one is an advanced module to help you achieve optimum performance whatever the size of your warehouse. Empirica Solutions use RF screen-based and voice data technology to maximise productivity improvements and provide a quick return on investment. And with its unique interfacing capabilities, Empirica integrates easily with existing IT and supply chain solutions.

In addition to WMS systems, Chess Logistics and Newbury Data has worked together to deliver both bespoke batch and real time, RF data capture applications for companies such as BMW, LinPac Materials Handling & MG Rover Cars.

Empirica WMS will suit the medium to large, single or multi-depot warehouse (5,000-40,000 pallets), and provide a powerful solution with great flexibility in all key areas. Configurable goods in and out processes, extensive stock management, reporting, and multiple additional functions create a solution equal to the demands of your operation.

System Set-up
Flexibility in a core WMS product is all about what goes on behind the scenes. Empirica’s incredibly detailed parameters, together with data held in static and dynamic files allow you to recreate multiple varied operating scenarios.

Management of storage locations affords you total flexibility, with all storage types handled by unique definable rules. Controls govern size, weight and volume, with settings by which you can determine allowable media, product mix, pick-face definition, ABC class, exclusion, sequencing and proximity.

Empirica will match any product profile, and deals with varied type, configuration and rotation issues. Individual receipt and rotation identity may be used, as well as size weight and volume definition at product level, allowable media and capacity ratios.

Empirica manages individual accounts for contract and third party logistics applications. Criteria can be defined at account level, including unique receipt and despatch rules, rotation and handling factors and product code format.

Receiving & Putaway
Empirica’s receiving module contains pre-receipt (ASN) for electronic or manual input, and a flexible receipt option. Check sheet and automatic media label (including EAN format) production are standard. All receipt option screens (PC or RF-based) can be formatted to match operational profile. The Empirica booking diary allows vehicle booking up to three months in advance. Slots can be defined by minimum turn-round time and variable product offload characteristics.

Various cross dock options are available using Empirica’s configurable receipt rules, with both held and non-stock held (pick to zero) situations handled. Cross dock instructions substitute putaway instructions during receiving to marshal outbound stock for despatch. Putaway processes support user-select and auto-placement options. Product can be located by ABC, sequenced, preferred and excluded locations and by product characteristic.

Full product visibility within intermediate (non-storage) locations is available throughout the putaway process. Empirica's unique Task-RF module allows mobile RF screen based or voice data units to be used in receiving and put-away processes. Available options allow processing of both pre-advised and ‘blind’ receipts. Task-RF also provides flexible putaway options.
