When considering a new, revised or upgraded racking system, the question many concerned Clients ask is:   "Is the floor slab suitable for the proposed racking system?"

To answer this question, Face Consultants Ltd (FACE) can offer their ‘Floor Slab Investigation Service'. This comprises:
  • A visual inspection of the floor slab to determine the location, type and condition of all joints and cracks, as well as surface finish and any areas of damage or deterioration.
  • Core sampling of the slab to determine actual slab thickness; reinforcement size, type and location, and compressive strength of the slab concrete.
  • Plate test on the sub-base, at the core hole locations, to determine the approximate Modulus of Sub-grade Reaction (k).
With this information plus the suggested racking layout and leg loading, supplied by the client, FACE can establish the suitability of the slab for the proposed racking system.
