While there is no specific minimum requirement for the quality of a concrete floor regarding cracking, the Concrete Society's Technical Report Nr. 34 states:
"Investigation into the cause of cracking is always required before any treatment..."

Face Consultants (FACE) are able to perform Crack Surveys as a part of an investigation into the reasons for the formation of cracks in a concrete floor. Successive surveys at regular intervals by FACE can clearly determine whether existing cracks in a floor are active or dormant and can indicate the formation of new cracks with certainty. Should the worst come to the worst, and the floor needs to be removed, a FACE survey is a reliable, accurate record of the condition of what has had to be replaced.

The Survey Method:
A crack survey conducted by FACE is a rapid process that does not disrupt the operation of the warehouse installation. The surveyor creates a detailed grid-orientated drawing that accurately shows the location of the cracks; he also records the average width of each crack (using the FACE Crack Detection Microscope, above) and the location of areas of severe surface crazing.
